LAMINATION MANAGER
COMPANY SUMMARY
Mocama Marine LLC (“Mocama” or “Company”) is a manufacturer of two premier boat brands including: Action Craft (a revered brand of flats boats and bay boats) and Southwind (a premium brand of high-quality deck boats).
JOB SUMMARY
Mocama is seeking an experienced manager and proven leader to manage lamination operations. The Lamination Manager is responsible for leading lamination teams to successfully planning and coordinating work activities and achieving safety, quality, cost, and delivery goals.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and supervise day-to-day operations of lamination department.
- Provide leadership, focus, direction, and coordination to team members and management.
- Collaborate with team and other departments to drive efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure products are laminated to necessary specifications.
- Implement and manage key metrics, including safety, quality, cost, & delivery.
- Champion a culture of safety and take responsibility for incident investigations, root causes and corrective actions.
- Maintain safe, organized, and clean working conditions.
- Manage waste disposal to ensure the safety of facility, minimizing excess resin & material usage.
- Capable of conducting interviews and staffing the departments, training new employees to ensure production, safety and quality goals are met.
- Effectively manage staffing/scheduling and audit/approve hours in payroll system.
- Create a culture of communication and collaboration.
- Continue to look for new ways to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
- Coordinate product movement and scheduling.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough knowledge of all company products and processes.
- Stay informed on the latest industry techniques and methods.
- All other duties as may be required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & CHARACTERISTICS
- Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required, AA or BA a plus.
- Experience & Knowledge:
- Proven experience in a role as a lamination supervisor.
- Proven knowledge of fiberglass lamination and the boat building process.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to help drive initiatives throughout the facility.
- The ability to maintain calm under pressure.
- Multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Information Systems:
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing/SS preferred.
- Language & Communication:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations in English.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, electronic mail, procedures and performance documents, as examples, in English.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to effectively conduct meetings in person and with technology assistance.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to utilize data to make business decisions.
- Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to wear personal protective equipment, including gloves, apron, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, safety glasses and a respirator. Plant environment varies with outside temperature and noise levels vary in different production areas.
- Possible exposure to chemicals common to boat manufacturing processes.
- Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, respirator etc.
- Must be able to physically handle the requirements of the job, including but not limited to, lifting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, climbing stairs, reaching, grasping, gripping, pushing, pulling, and spending entire working hours on your feet, etc.
- Must be able to understand all safety related documents and work-site rules and practices, equipment operating instructions, documented safety management systems, and health and safety requirements, including the General Safety Rules and Individual Safety Commitment.
